Hope & Ivy Heads North: Manchester Digital Launch
We will always hold true to our East London roots but, we are blossoming in a new direction for our digital launch in Manchester.
As Hope & Ivy grows we have to explore new digital audiences. We may be a Southern born brand but branching out to a Northern audience has always been important to Hope & Ivy. That’s why we cannot wait to expand with some exciting new additions to the city of Manchester. The capital of the North is an incredible city built from integrity and bursting with its own authentic personality. It is filled with culture from its rich musical history, fantastic nightlife, thriving art scene and as the home of fast fashion empires. We can’t wait to inject a little of our floral magic in to the beautiful melting pot of Manchester.
Our launch into the Manchester digital landscape is going to go off with a bang! The city will see a number of Hope & Ivy billboards decorating the city centre. On top of that, the busy roads will be filled with 30 Hope & Ivy taxis. Our ‘creatures of the night’ collection we launched not long ago at AW19 Launch Party will take centre stage. The glamorous editorial, will have a new home in Manchester, evoking vintage lustre, dark autumnal tones and a slight sultry mystery. Shot in Paris, the beautiful shoot shows off Hope & Ivy’s amazing AW19 designs such as velvet thigh split gowns, 90s slip dress inspired styles with delicate florals, elegant wrap dresses and stunning hand-designed embellishments.
This is an absolute cause for celebration and we headed up to Manchester to check out Hope & Ivy’s flourish into northern territory and absorb some of the city for ourselves.
To have the truest Mancunian experience, our hotel was situated in the city centre in the very heart of Manchester. The Motel One – Royal Exchange is a fabulous hotel with an interior that pays homage to Manchester’s past as an industrial city. Manchester used to be the largest producer of cotton in the world – bold but elegant touches tell this empowering story of the city’s hardworking past.
After settling into our Manchester digs, we were swiftly picked up in some very fancy looking taxis. That’s right – they were Hope & Ivy ones! The taxis took us around Manchester (most definitely in style) and dropped us off at our dinner destination in the super chic Spinningfields district.
Spinningfields is Manchester’s premium spot for entertainment and culture holding host to a number of famous bars, restaurants and event venues. The thriving hotspot sits in the middle of the city’s financial and commercial district and is an after-work playground for the city’s workers.
Our dinner plans took us to one of our all-time favourite spots – The Ivy. The Manchester addition to the iconic chain did not disappoint. The huge building holds host to the brasserie, bar and even a rooftop overlooking Spinningfields. The picturesque décor celebrates florals with gorgeous greenery decorating the ceilings and vintage wallpaper styles adorning the walls - providing us with some serious print inspiration.
We delved into the delectable array of cocktails that sample local spirits and flavours. Our personal favourites included the Ivy's signature Gin and Tonic. The menu celebrates the best of British and fresh cuisine. If you’ve ever been to The Ivy, you’ll know that when it comes to choosing among its glorious menu selection, it becomes quite the task. Finally, we opted for our totally tasty mains that included blackened cod, lamb rump and lots of fries. We definitely recommend the tuna steak.
We could have stayed surrounded in the beautiful scenery and good atmosphere at the Ivy but our short time in Manchester had us eager to explore some more of the city’s evening hotspots. First on our list - The Alchemist, with their incredible take on mixology we were keen to get stuck into their cocktail list. Toward end of the night we headed toward one of the city’s party hotspots – Neighbourhood. The lively bar and restaurant also has an amazing cocktail list (you can see a theme here can’t you?) While the awe-inspiring interior boasts bright and bold iconography that takes inspiration from New York yet, sits perfectly in its Manchester surroundings.
Finally, after sampling as much of Manchester’s cocktails and cuisines as possible, we hit the road - in our very own Hope & Ivy cabs! Before they started properly serving the people of Manchester, this one took us on a quick tour to see the new billboards light up Manchester’s skyline. A truly incredible end to a fantastic night.
As well, as leaving our mark on Manchester, it most certainly left a mark on us and we can’t wait for our connection with this city to blossom.
