Behind the scenes

At our POM London Pop-Up Weekend

Hope & Ivy x The William Morris Society

All About Our Pop-Up Weekend at Pom

To celebrate the launch of our latest collaborative collection with The William Morris Society, Hope & Ivy held an exciting pop-up event all weekend long at the lovely POM London boutique. The store front was given a makeover by the supremely talented artist Sasha Compton, who hand-decorated the window with an eye-catching mural blooming with painterly florals.

We kicked things off on our fabulous weekend of fun with an intimate celebration on Friday evening. Guests enjoyed delicious charcuterie sharing boards from Grape & Fig, refreshing soft drinks provided by Heartsease Farm and, of course, a few glasses of bubbles.

The first 35 customers who purchased dresses across the weekend were treated to a fantastic goody bag, containing a matching makeup bag and scrunchie, a magazine from The William Morris Society, and plenty of other goodies including a postcard and stickers, a delicious, printed biscuit, and bee-friendly wildflower seeds. Our friends at Heartsease Farm provided a soft drink, while Choc Affair ensured everyone had a satisfied sweet tooth.

Centre stage of the delicious spread was a beautiful cake by The Great British Bake Off finalist Alice Fevronia, who decorated her William Morris-printed elderflower and lemon sponge in-store for us and sliced and served her delicious creation for evening guests. Lucky us!

We were joined by Chief Executive Director of The William Morris Society Claudia Suckling and paper conservator Angelina Bakalarou of the BBC’s The Repair Shop, both of whom spoke a few words on the monumental influence of William Morris and the importance of preserving craftsmanship for generations to come.

We learned more about the important community outreach work of The William Morris Society, an endeavour we were proud to support by donating 10% from all sales of the collection over the opening weekend to the charity-run organisation.

Also in attendance were our friends Kirsty Heslewood, August Bernstein, Abhilasha Ashok and Nadya Panchenkova, as well as our talented craftspeople who were demonstrating their talents over the weekend. Guests enjoyed mingling over nibbles and shopping our gorgeous new 8-piece collection until the sun set on a fabulous first day.

Over the weekend we were joined by amazing artisan craftspeople and local makers who demonstrated their artistry live in store. Firstly, we were lucky enough to welcome Flora Jamieson to give an inspiring presentation of stained-glass window painting.

This was followed by extraordinary weaver Tabara N'Diaye of La Basketry, who gave a demonstration of her intricately interlaced designs before heading out to enjoy our fantastic ice cream cart in the sunshine.

Finally, Sian Zeng gave a wallpaper painting showcase, applying inks to paper to produce an enchanting bamboo scene that had weekend visitors to POM mesmerised.

With yummy British countryside flavours including Heavenly Honeycomb and Ginger, Very Cherry, Blackcurrant & Clotted Cream and a vegan Strawberry & Champagne Sorbet, our charming Hope & Ivy ice cream cart offered the perfect refreshment for curious passers-by.

We had such a wonderful time celebrating the important work of The William Morris Society, highlighting the inspirational artistry of local craftspeople and meeting our customers! We hope that you’ll love wearing the dresses just as much as we enjoyed creating and sharing the collection!
