Brightly coloured and characterful, the unique hand-painted prints in our Summer 2024 collection will ensure you’ll stand out from the crowd. We sat down with our in-house print designer Laura to take a closer look at the latest drop of dresses and find out the inspiration behind each of the exclusive patterns.

Seaside Strolls

We do like to be beside the seaside! And whether we are sipping an Aperol Spritz on the Mediterranean coast or exploring the shoreline closer to home, we’re sure to be soaking up the sunshine in The Miller. This cream kaftan-style midi dress is scattered with repeating motifs of beachside favourites, including corals, crabs, shells and nautical anchors alongside bright fruits and foliage – perfect for packing for trips to the French Riviera, the Amalfi coastline, or Devon and Cornwall.

‘Holidays – whether abroad or at home – are definitely what we designed the Miller dress for,’ says our talented print designer Laura. ‘Moreover, fruits are set to be a big trend for print this Summer, so we just had to incorporate some lemons, oranges and grapes to add a touch of playfulness.’ We love how the adjustable wrap front ensures it cinches at the waist for a figure-flattering finish. Look out for the sequin-strewn beaded fringing at the sleeves, adding a touch of bohemian sparkle!

Exotic Island Escape

If your next adventure is to a far-flung destination like Mexico, Mauritius or a sun-soaked Caribbean island, you’ll be seeking out zingy patterns and bold shades that stand out against white sands and palm trees. Look no further than our eye-catching banana print motif that’s perfect for tropical vacations. ‘We wanted to step away from more graphic depictions of bananas, and revive them in a more textural way, with obvious brushstrokes that were inspired by Fauvist paintings,’ says Laura, who used an unexpected palette of peachy pinks, sky blues and verdant greens alongside rich yellows and oranges. ‘I also envisaged this design from its conception to be huge scale, creating an abstraction from the fruit’s natural form and cutting through the shape of the dress.’

First to feature the fun seasonal print is The Arna. With feminine puff sleeves, a twist-front bust, and shirring to ensure a figure-flattering fit, this milkmaid-style dress has a gathered asymmetric banding at the midi skirt for an elegant sense of movement. It’s also made from 100% cotton – a cool and breathable choice for warmer climes.

Next up, The Cezanne wrap dress has romantic flutter sleeves and a bow-fastening tie waist to ensure a beautifully flattering shape. The banded maxi-length skirt ensures it’s perfect for any time of day, whether you’re heading out for lunch by the pool, exploring the local town or going for cocktails at sunset.

This bold, painterly print is sure to turn heads wherever you're headed on holiday. Rustic Retreat

There’s nothing quite as relaxing as escaping to the countryside – whether it’s to a quaint British cottage, a picture-perfect holiday home in the South of France, or an Italian villa in Tuscany, Umbria or Puglia. If you’re headed on your own rural retreat, make sure to pack The Wilma. This milkmaid-inspired style is adorned with hand-painted motifs including ripe fruits, olive branches, and wine bottles.

‘We definitely sought to encapsulate a provincial feel with this print’ says Laura, who hand-painted each decorative design. ‘Simple things like produce from charming rural markets and fruits strung from orchards are at the heart of this design’ she adds. With pretty puff sleeves, a tiered midi skirt, and a beautiful twist front at the bust, this cream midi-length style is a flattering, feminine style that’s perfect for wearing to garden parties and family picnics. Continue the rustic mood by teaming it with a straw hat and leather sandals.
