Discover The Gardens of Giverny

Our Hand-Painted, Monet-Inspired Collection

As the seasons soften into spring, we are once again drawn out into the beauty of the outdoors and the awakening of nature. At Hope & Ivy, we are continuously mesmerised by the botanical world and so, for our spring season, we turned our eye towards the lush landscapes of the Gardens of Giverny.

“Our team visited the Gardens of Giverny last spring, and the inspiration that we found there paved the way to the conception of our spring collection” says our talented print designer Laura.

Claude Monet moved to Giverny in 1883, where he worked tirelessly to transform the neglected estate into the botanical haven that featured in many of his greatest artworks. The French Impressionist found endless inspiration in this private sanctuary, cultivating the gardens and building specialist art studios, remaining there until his death in 1926.

“The lush plantings and tranquil feeling of the garden encapsulate a softness and freshness that we sought to capture in the prints for our spring 2025 collection,” Laura says, “Translating this iconic setting into a pastoral scenic design has been a labour of love, and an ode to Monet's work.”

Whether or not you have visited the gardens yourself, there will be one feature at Giverny that feels fantastically familiar – the lily pond. Since Monet often made light the central focus of his paintings, it followed that he should be drawn to the interplay of sunlight and cloud reflections on water. Keen to create an aquatic focus in his own estate, the artist diverted a small branch of the River Epte to bring his iconic pond into existence. The scene was finally finished with a Japanese-style bridge crossing the water.

You can see Monet’s multiple interpretations of his beloved pond in many galleries around the globe, including his eight large-scale Water Lilies murals at The Musée de l'Orangerie, which we featured in our Rainy Day Guide to Paris. But who needs a trip on the Eurostar when you can bring the idyllic surroundings of Giverny to you with our spectacular dresses?

“As a brand that is rooted in creating beautiful prints and embroidery, we regularly look to artistic movements – such as fauvism and impressionism for inspiration,” says our print designer Laura. “Something we have tried to emulate from Monet's work is capturing a moment in time through the use of light, and using colour as a means of definition. We hope that in doing so, our prints will become part of our customer's special occasions and moments.”

This very special collection is one that's so dear to our hearts here at Hope & Ivy, and we are so delighted it is finally ready to share with you!

So, without further ado....
